Liz Corbett - Writer, Poet, & Author
I am a poet, creative writer, and author born and raised in Camden, South Carolina. Writing short stories and poetry has always been my passion since I was in elementary school. After serving in the military, writing became my therapy. I kept many journals of poems that reflected my faith and relationship with God, mental health battles, along with my childhood, military, and relationship experiences. In July 2022, I decided to self-publish my first poetry book, Thoughts of an Unspoken Mind. After publishing my book, I was given the opportunity to use selected poems as literary and educational resources on the Virginia Poet’s Database Website (https://digitalcommons.odu.edu/virginiapoets/hamptonroads/poets/20/).
I enjoy writing poetry and short stories based on rhetorical aspects that are drawn from my experiences. My poems become more expressive and personable, creating a connection to readers who can relate to my experience.
Currently, I am pursuing a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in creative writing and minor in psychology at Old Dominion University while working on my second book.
